SEC YOUTH BEGIN NEW YEAR IN PRAYER
12th January 2017
With no emphasis on speakers, singers, or special guests the SEC Youth Ministries department led through the SEC as area Youth Federations stayed true in keeping each programme primarily on prayer. Over 300 youth and young adults across the South England Conference took part in the anticipated gatherings held on Sabbath 7 January. St Austell, Swindon, Southampton, London, Reading, Luton and Cambridge all hosted prayer meetings on the first Sabbath of the year to give God thanks and to put 2017 in His hands. All venues were supported by SEC pastors and elders with special guests from the BUC Youth director and SEC Acting President. The purpose of the event was twofold:
1. To emphasise and reignite the importance of the Power of Prayer among the young people.
2. To unify and empower the youth across the Conference through the area Youth Federations.
Some of the highlights of the evening included anointing services and prayer air balloon lanterns that were lit as youth watched as they floated into the night sky. Each area had speakers, praise and worship sessions and powerful testimonies which reminded many that God is still doing the impossible.
Anthony Fuller, SEC Youth director who spent the evening in Swindon said, "Sabbath was an awesome experience, I couldn't possibly be in 8 areas at once but the game changer was knowing that each area Youth President was able to lead and work as a unit. Saturday night was proof that God is faithful. Youth coming out to pray in and of itself is a success. I was overwhelmed at the feedback from my leaders and with what they achieved and proud of them for their sacrifice, creativity, and passion in ensuring a collaborated work across the Conference. Prayer is fundamental to everything we do and it is important for me that we as the Youth department started right. We now look forward to 'It's Time', a day of fellowship, 28 January at the Dominion Centre."
The Power of Prayer is a prayer meeting that will run quarterly from a Conference and area Youth Federation level throughout the year with an emphasis on prayer to action. This event will kick-start all programmes and events for the quarter whilst promoting the necessity of prayer.
