Hackney Baptism

1st February 2018

There was a celebratory mood in the Hackney Seventh-day Adventist church as two individuals gave their lives to the Lord through a special baptismal service which took place on Sabbath 27 January 2018.

Daniel Andries and Joy Baker, regular visitors to the Hackney Adventist church, made the decision to follow Jesus in the presence of their family, friends and church members.

Daniel, who was born in Romania, found Hackney church after coming across their website during a Google internet search. He had already known about Adventism having been introduced to the movement in Romania by his friend Zabar, who, himself, happened to be a Seventh-day Adventist.

For a long time, Joy had wanted to give her heart to the Lord but as is often the case, there was an internal battle between the forces of good and evil. However, on this day, the shackles were broken as Joy made the choice to follow her Saviour wiHackneys-Elders-at-the-back-with-newly-Baptised-Members-Daniel-Andries-Joy-Baker-and-Pastor-Joojo-Bonnie-seated-at-the-front-002thout turning back.

The two individuals, who are currently studying with Bible workers – Ann Williams, Ruby Merchant and Cheryl Daley, were warmly received into the family of God and both Joy and Daniel had already made an impression in the church having respectively supported in the Community Ministries and the Media and Technical departments.

In his counsel to the newly baptised members, Hackney Elder, John Mathieu, encouraged them to build their house on the Rock, Christ Jesus, knowing that to do so, will mean that they are secure in whom they have believed in.

Following on from this message, Pastor Joojo Bonnie, having baptised the two individuals, then made an appeal to the friends and family who joyously looked on, to follow the example set by their loved ones and build their house on the Rock, Christ Jesus, who is soon to come to take all His children home with Him.
